What initially made you decide to sell your home For Sale by Owner?

We decided to sell our home For Sale by Owner to save money. We were in our house for 6 years and did not have very much equity plus, it was not the ideal time to sell.
Had you sold a home before with an agent or sold a home FSBO?
No, this was our first home and our first time selling.
What challenges or difficulties did you run into along the way?
Our greatest challenge was knowing what documentation we were required to present to the buyers and being sure we stayed within the timeframes set in the contract.
What was the result of your FSBO experience? Was it positive? (how long until an offer, did it close, did you save money)
Our FSBO experience was very good. We were really surprised with how easy and smooth the process went. We put our house on the market on a Thursday got an offer that Sunday and the deal closed within 30 days. We saved ourselves over $5,000.00.
What advice would you give to others?
If you have the time to sell on your own – do it!! The process may seem intimidating but it is not that difficult and the savings are well worth it. Be sure to clean and declutter your house, closets and cabinets before you have it listed. Pictures are key as so many people will look online and make a decision at that point if they want to take the time to make a trip out to see your home.
